The First Sino-US Precision Medicine International Training Program Completed Successfully

The first Sino-US Precision Medicine International Training Program was successfully completed during November 27-December 11, 2016. The graduation ceremony was held at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Wei Wu hosted the graduation ceremony. Executive Vice President Dr. Thomas A. Buchholz and famous Pathologist Dr. Dongfeng Tan attended the ceremony and spoke to the trainees.

This program was designed for Chinese high-level hospital leaders, such as Presidents and Vice Presidents. During this first training, high-level hospital leaders from seven provinces and cities across China came to Houston Texas Medical Center located to learn about the American health management and medical practices. The goal of the program was to increase knowledge about American Health Management and Precision Medicine and strengthen the dialog between U.S. and China on healthcare.

During the 14 days, the trainees heard from and exchanged ideas with experts from MD Anderson Caner Center, Baylor College of Medicine, Memorial Hermann Hospital, Harris County Hospital, and etc. The trainees also met with Houston Mayor’s Office and director of Public Health of Houston to learn about government’s responsibilities on public health.

Both Chinese and American high-level hospital management said they benefited from the program. They would like to see the program continue.
